Reunited...in Paris! Page 17

‘You don’t think we’d let you get married without us attending? Besides, John is thrilled to be working at your clinic for the next month while you take that honeymoon.’

‘You mean while we shift into that massive house and start redecorating. Nothing like lying on the beach at some exclusive resort.’ But exactly what she wanted to be doing.

‘You forgot to add that you’ll be popping into work during that time.’ Rita’s gaze settled on her husband. ‘I still remind myself every day how lucky we’ve been.’

‘Sometimes we all need a wake-up call.’ Again Tori’s hand touched her tummy. Getting past week fourteen had been long and worrisome, but they were there now and she refused to worry any more. This baby would be safe and healthy.

Ben draped an arm over her shoulder. ‘Why do they take so long to incubate? I want to meet my child now.’

Shaking her head at her impatient almost-husband, Tori laughed. ‘There’s not much you aren’t impatient about.’

‘Then let’s get cracking.’ Ben clapped his hands to get everyone’s attention. ‘Time to rock, folks. Can you start making your way down to the wharf? Like as quickly as possible? I’m done with waiting to marry this beautiful woman. The sooner we’ve had the ceremony the sooner we can come back inside the restaurant and begin the reception.’

He leaned close to Tori and added, sotto voce, ‘Why did you order five courses? Wouldn’t one have been enough? Anyone would think you don’t want to go to bed with me tonight.’

‘Believe me, I want nothing more, but I kind of like making you wait.’

‘I’ve been waiting seven years, woman.’ He might have growled, but those caramel eyes were filled with laughter and love. The perfect recipe for a wedding.

To hell with her lipstick. Tori stretched up on her very high heels—bought in Paris, of course—and kissed her man hard, until Rita and John each took an elbow and separated them.

‘Come on, you two. There’s supposed to be a wedding going on at the marina,’ John said. ‘We’d hate to miss it.’

‘Not a chance.’ Tori slipped her hand around Ben’s arm. ‘Not a chance.’
